Improvement meme by Xamag Improvement meme by Xamag
Should've done that long ago :T Some people wanted to know what my old art looked like.

Note that there's only original artwork, Homestuck and other fanarts are another story

2006 : My first try to write a story, a COMPLETED story and create more or less stable characters. I use animu style, while being completely unaware what anime is. I also draw with mouse in Photoshop, on only one layer (the one with photographed sketch) and use random pictures as background, yay! Ah, memories.

2007 : It's time for the second story and...cucumber faces (TM)! You'll never know what my MALES looked like... Everything is inspired by Disney, american cartoons and pretty much Golden Compass. This time I don't have to look for background, I've got 3ds Max mad skillz! Still use the mouse, got a scanner.

2008 : The third story comes with passion to anime. My first anime was Shaman King and...well, you know. Thanks god I read manga soon after that. But still, that's not the best style to learn from when you're new at it. So the first tries were horryfying. Honestly, I couldn't even dream that one day I'll be able to draw as good as some fanartists :Ъ But still, I consider this year being the most productive. Oh, and I discovered multiply mode and different layers in Photoshop, so I can color finished lineart! (magics yes) I have to try different pens and inks to find the most comfortable one.

2009 : The same as 2008, but in October I finally get a tablet. Wow, I thought that all cool pictures are drawn with mouse, derp. I begin using PaintTool SAI and Manga Studio.

2010 : Basically the same, but I started using 3d dolls for reference. You could see these on my old account.

2011 : The saaaaa...er, wait, I've read Homestuck and realized that anime isn't cool. Back to them cartoons!

2012 : Finally some progress with difference in faces and bodies. Here comes my new account, you know the rest.

Wow, I think that even your oldest art looks nice. Your newest art is absolutely insane. I'm jealous of your talent.

You're for sure one of the most talented people I've ever seen.
I discover digital painting at 16... When I see what you were doing at this age.

I love and really ask myself... HOW ??! How can you found this fast a more cartoony style. I have to say that even if I like my anime style, I'm trying a lot of cartoony drawings and character, but it's really hard to learn how to draw faces and anatomy when we're used to draw anime inspired style.

Anyway, you're amazing ! Really jealous of you haha. You will be pro ! ;-)

Wow, thank you :D Actually, I think it's anime that helped me start, because even though it rarely pictures real-life faces, the anatomy and perspective can often be quite impressive. At least if I studied anatomy from the stylized cartoons, the results would be much worse.

Yeah I think the same, anime is good to learn anatomy (if we don't draw yaoi style BIG HANDS or beautiful CLAMP style with ultra thin body haha).
But I have to say that the harder is to perfectly found how to draw many genre of faces in cartoon stylized drawings. :)

I think that copying or look at more cartoons or animation film could help me to see several ways to draw noses, shape of the skull etc.
I'll probably do it. Did you did that sometimes ?

Yeah, I guess I was lucky to never find out what CLAMP is as a child x)

That's pretty much what I always do, at least when my lack of imagination comes back. It's a very useful thing :P

I love seeing people do these memes because it always makes me feel better about my drawing skills. I gave up drawing digital awhile ago, because my tablet didn't like me that much haha, but seeing how much you improved through the years makes me want to give it another go and practice, practice and practice! I've been a fan of your art and style for some time, and you are probably one of my favorite artists ^^, and definitely an inspiration to me! :3
