possibly, if you have anti-virus software, the page somehow found itself on the software's firewall's hit list as it were. In that case you would need to manually tell the firewall to allow full access to the page.
not really the same thing, but I lost the ability to see how many pageviews I got each day a while back and it hasn't changed back: I imagine they're doing some upgrading in leiu of Windows 8 and some things got broke.
I have (maybe ) the same problem with uploads. I can only upload a picture with maximum 300 KB size. It's really annoying. And I don't have cure for this. Speciallist told me it's because of router : /
I have no idea what's wrong, but here's a list of catch-all stuff I do when my browser's acting funny.
1) Clear your cache and cookies. Use google to find out how for your specific browser. 2) Logout of DeviantArt, the re-login. Should automatically occur from step 1, but you never know. 3) Update/re-install flash. If your plug-ins are bugged it can cause the page to freeze when loading up. 4) Try a different browser (try Firefox if using Chrome or vice versa). If the problem persists, it's a problem with dA or you have a virus. 5) Kick your computer. This worked for me once.
Возможно, стоит попробовать использовать не автоматические, а гугловские DNS. У меня тоже был сайт, который не открывался ни в одном браузере, и это помогло. Как менять DNS - [link] Гугловские DNS - 126.96.36.199 и 188.8.131.52
I had something like this happen to me... I kept getting 401 errors with JUST dA and they wouldn't ("couldn't") help me. For me, it was caused by my wireless router burning out. If she has a router and its over a year or has a lot of things running on it, it may be burned out and its time to get a new one. We run a lot of stuff on our router (3 computers (4 at one point) and 3 Xbox 360s (also 4 at one point)) and they caused two routers (Linksys) to burn out very quickly (6 months to a year). Netgear hasn't given us any issues and it was stupid easy to set up. Unlike Linksys (which require a 2 hour phone call to set up sometimes), Netgear was as simple as plug it in, do a few steps on a computer and that's it.
But before that, try resetting your network. Basically what you'd do is unplug everything in a specific order (router, then modem). Let it sit a minute, then plug it back in in reverse order (modem, then router) - but you need to wait for your modem lights to all come on first.
Also call your ISP and ask if they can help you reset your IP - I THINK resetting your network will do it, but double check with them.
If it fixes it and then you start having the issues again, its definitely the router.
You can also try Temp File Cleaner. This will clear out ALL of your temporary files, which can sometimes cause issues. I know she said she cleared out her cookies, but she needs to clear out EVERYTHING. Cache, cookies, history, temporary files.... whole 9 yards. Sometimes one of those files can become corrupted and cause issues (though it shouldn't cause it across all browsers... I think its network related).
I know this. I know this TOO WELL! It has only just let me back in today, and it happens at various and unexplained times, on all computers + servers we have in the house. 'Downforeveryoneorjustme?' shows it is just me, but I could never find an explaination or solution, I can only wait untill the site seems to be working again. My huge consolations to Xamag! Has she tried on a totally different computer in a different place, like a public library?
It happened to me couple of times. You need to clean up cash and cookies, then to restart your PC. Cleaning hard disk from unnecessary stuff also helps. Then to wait for a day or so, if there is no result.
You should also contact DA admins, if nothing else helps, because it can be restriction by IP.
That actually happened to me too before, but then got fixed without me actually doing anything in a couple of days. Weird. But Xamag can't access DA for over a week already. I passed your message to her and she said she already tried cleaning up cookies. Well, if nothing else helps contacting admins might be an option. Thanks for your advice!
IP address blocking is often done by blocking one IP address, but a range of IP addresses so that the same local network is blocked. My knowledge about this is very limited, but there are ways around IP blocking, the easiest being using a proxy (there are online proxies that are very easy to use).
So stunning and colorful! *v* I'm not sure why DeviantArt would break like that... Maybe her parents blocked the website? Sometimes people do that because not everyone marks mature deviations as mature, giving this website a bad name...
